Clarks Mill

Hickman & Smith Architects were appointed by Watermark (Trowbridge) to deliver the restoration and conversion of the historically significant Clarks Mill site at Stallard Street in Trowbridge.

Clark’s Mill comprises a collection of grade II and Grade II* listed buildings.  The original Stallard Mill building dates from 1860.  Restoration proposals for the large 4 storey brick mill will provide 18 bespoke apartments.  The designs respond to the strong rhythm of expressive structural buttressing and large obtuse headed windows of the mill and doubled ordered top floor.  Original materials are exposed internally, and the original hoist tower and staircase are made into feature apartments on the north corner.

The early 19th century Millhouse is a grade II* listed building which is to be converted into 5 houses.  Planning for the site was approved in 2019 and construction starts in June 2020.
