This single-storey extension and kitchen renovation to a terraced house in Leicester features a clean, contemporary design. The client’s wish was to transform the dark and dated kitchen into a light, modern space and to turn the unused outbuildings into a beautiful new living space in an unobtrusive manner. We therefore re-used the bricks from the existing outhouse to build the extension, making this a natural continuation of the building. The high ceiling and neutral interiors create a generous feeling of space, while the large glazed doors allow natural light to flood in. When these large doors are opened, the architectural detail creates a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors.
The approachability of Adam, David, and their colleagues was very helpful for us. It was useful to have their take on our ideas-validating them or where they felt necessary challenging them. This was done in a constructive way.
