Reservoir Cottage
Reservoir House is a domestic property located on the Northern border of the Lake District National Park. The aim of this project was to increase the thermal performance of the building to reduce its carbon footprint and to modernise the interior while preserving the charm of the property. To meet these objectives, Hickman & Smith Architects proposed three glazed additions to the property. These will pro-vide thermal insulation to the walls they protect, solar heat gain, and thermal airlocks to entrances, whilst retaining visibility of the cottage’s stone wall construction.
The approachability of Adam, David, and their colleagues was very helpful for us. It was useful to have their take on our ideas-validating them or where they felt necessary challenging them. This was done in a constructive way.
