Planning permission has been achieved for a new three storey family home on Six hills Road, replacing a small timber bungalow on the property. The clients had been looking for the perfect location to build their dream home for many years before finding the appropriate plot and enlisting Hickman and Smith Architects to turn their ‘self-build’ design aspirations into a reality.
The design reflects the needs and style of the young family and incorporates many personal design features. The front of the house is stately with well-ordered rooms, whilst the rear of the house has a dynamic double height and open plan space. The design incorporates large windows which optimise natural light and create an immersive connection with the outdoors and captures the energetic industrial aesthetic which suits the client’s vibrant family lifestyle.
The approachability of Adam, David, and their colleagues was very helpful for us. It was useful to have their take on our ideas-validating them or where they felt necessary challenging them. This was done in a constructive way.
